Hi, I am Christine, the resident Teditor for DDU and I am the artist behind My Old Friends in Melbourne.
I teach bear making at various venues through out Victoria and produce my own range of artist bears, kits and patterns for bear makers. Recently I have been working with an American company, producing "On Line Classes" which have been enormously popular. Many people either through time constraints, ill health or even distance are prevented from attending classes and Online classes have filled the gap for these students.
Our bear making class is 50-60 pages long and is full of text and pictures so that no one is left hanging as you are so many times when you try to learn from a book. With the help of a message board you have your own teacher 24 hours a day so you do not feel alone. It's a great way to make new friends too.We are also running classes on aging techniques & mohair painting as well as bear making so let me know if I can be of help to you.
I write for various publications and fill many hours researching the history of bears. My great loves in life besides my family are my bears and it has become almost an obsession to find old bears. The old bears have so much love to share and so many hidden secrets I find them impossible to resist. Much of my spare time is spent in antique shops searching for that elusive old bear.

PANSY
Introducing Pansy, a hand painted mohair bear in 9 shades of blues
through to purples. Pansy was chosen to represent Australia in the Teddy Bear
Museum in USA. She has since been joined by three other bears from My Old Friends.
BRINDELLE
Brindelle is a 16" and made from thick matted mohair from MY OLD Friends.
CARRINGTON
Introducing Carrington, a 16" bear made from matted tipped mohair with
leather pads & glass eyes.
Carrington can be bought made up or a kit is available from

He is 11" high made from mohair.
